Happy Birthday Michael!

Everyone is invited over for some of Dad's potato salad to celebrate Michael's Birthday! Happy Birthday dear Michael... your card is on it's way. We thought about sending some potato salad but decided a picture would have to do until you come back down. Can you get a free ride on the whale boat because you are married to one of the deck hands?
Enjoy the big 33.

Weekend Hike

Went for an overnighter in the Goat Rocks Wilderness (Wa) last weekend. Great views of Mt Adams, Rainier and steam/smoke coming off of St Helens.

We had great weather but a cold night. Here's Becky crossing a snow patch above a tarn. The best thing was no Extra-Tuffs required and no swarms of giant nasty mesquitos (We didn't even need a tent!)--- Alaska-shmashka!

Look who's back in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This and that

Dad put in 2 window airconditioners in the family room windows... one on each side. The heat has been out of control. The worst heat wave ever recorded in Southern Cal. When dad went to Home Depot to buy a part to install the units, as he was leaving, the lights went out. We are probably in for some Brown outs. (Who came up with that one?) Brown outs.
Rebekah is with us for a few days. Kansas is behaving herself. John Davis was over for dinner and now it's your turn.

Mom

Two Beckys and a Dave

We had a great time with Becky this past weekend. This picture was taken on the docks at Newport. IT was cloudy and cool there but that was a nice change from the warm of the willamette valley.
In the evenings we hung out in the backyard playing blokus and then having a fire. Kansas loved exploring the yard and getting as many sticks as she could find.
. This pic is for you carol! Me and Dave in portland. Happy belated Mothers Day! Lots of love to everyone. becky and dave

Our New Car

The Nissan died. Dad and I bought this Toyota Camry. We got it from Enterprise through Johnny Kight.

Now on the last day... there was a breakfast.

Dad and I were enjoying our morning talk time when the phone rang. I heard Dad say in a jovial way, "Nobody told ME." The guys at the shop were having a retirement breakfast for Dad and he almost missed it. :) Today is his last day of work. All the men in his company are laid off today and will be hired by another company as of Monday (Dad just found out last week that the changing of companies would happen sometime this week. Dad figured that this was a good time to bow out.
Our life of retirement will start Monday. I don't think it will hit me until school starts in the fall.
Thank you for the veggies and the bread David and Becky. That is some garden! I wish we were closer.
I just found out what the comments thing on Blogger is all about. Now I can get in on the conversation :)
Mike and Caroline, your fishing pictures are amazing. Love to the Tamms.

dads retiring

well since no one told me, im assuming tami is the only one that knew... today is dads day at work. his company sold so hes retiring. just thought since tami knew the rest of us would like to know too. oh ya and good thing we have this blog to keep up on the family.

Growing the Good Stuff

Dave put in a garden earlier this spring and we have finally be able to begin harvesting. My sister Christine planted some stuff in the one of the bed using starts and now we are already harvesting her GIGANTIC zucchini squash. Yep, I
got out the zucchini bread recipe!
This is Cody, our nephew, enjoying the fresh veggies! We are also enjoying lots of lettuce and we are waiting for the tomatoes to turn red. The summer sure is beautiful here in Portland. Why do you all just move on up here? Lots of love, b & d

What Dave Does

So this is the latest construction by Oregon Timberworks. The shelter is right on the bank of the Clackamas River in Estacada. The weather has been beautiful here, maybe a little warm for Dave to be putting the roof on, but blue skys and cool breezes.

The stone work was done by another company. Sure looks inviting.

Maybe I'll be able to get Dave to write alittle something about this structure and his work. Lots of love! becky
